Well enough of the Carpenters…Lets sing about being Glad to be Gay, Tom Robinson wrote this first song in 1976 for the London Gay Pride March in 1976. Recorded and released it on an EP in 1977, which of course was immediately banned by BBC Radio – a sure way to make it a hit!!!

Moving on to something a little more recent we have “Ok to be Gay” by Tomboy. Check out his website. It’s all in flash and not the easiest to navigate, but it does make an interesting read.

It really speaks volumes that from 1976 to today – 31 years later – that in some Countries it still isn’t “Ok to be Gay”. Thankfully I live in Canada and I can Marry my Partner the minute he asks me! (Hey J get the hint?)

Adrian and myself (John) would like to wish everyone a wonderful 2008. Heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who have supported our websites and projects over the past few years. We’ve got lots of ideas and plans for the new year for all our sites which include our second annual “Show us your jockstrap” contest starting in February. I mention the contest as a heads-up to get those jockstraps and cameras out. We’re looking for creativity this year and we’re changing up the voting rules as well to ensure a more fair contest.

Although many of you realize it, many don’t know we’re now a family of websites and blogs. We do our best to keep them all updated regularly, but it’s impossible to update all the blogs daily, so if you visit one and don’t find an update, then try visiting our other ones. Although you will find links all over the place to our various sites, here’s a convenient list so you can visit them (and bookmark them!)

Jockstrap Central is our jockstrap and underwear store. We now carry over 100 styles of jockstraps and now include select styles of underwear, t-shirts, shorts and accessories:

Jeff’s this handsome muscled straight guy who’s also an exhibitionist. He gets off (literally) on camming for others. Not that I think we need a cause to get naked, but if that’s what it’s going to take to get those hot Australian Rugby and Football players to take their clothes off then I’m going to support it. In all seriousness though Naked For A Cause is fighting breast cancer so why not support it?

These 28 rubgy and football players are stunning and the photographer (can’t find out who he is) does a great job of capturing their characters. You can get the photos either by buying prints, or in a calendar. Plus there’s bios and more on each player, and if you register, there’s videos and all sorts of other goodies.

Well it’s been a while since we had any good Gay themed commercials up here, it’s been busy time for us, with four hobby blogs, two hobby websites and a very busy pre-Christmas rush for our web store Jockstrap Central….Hey by the way, a lot of you are getting jockstraps for Christmas (well this is about commercials isn’t it?).

Here is a very funny, and oh do I wish it were true…..um I mean very factually correct commercial for “The Ten Senses” cologne.

The next one is more of a “Public Service Announcement” to promote the use of condems, banned on MTV, maybe the board of censors didn’t like the cute little sheep reference…who can say!!!

Kay Giss on Torchwood

As America’s next door neighbor to the north, except for a few cable stations, we essentially get the same programming up here in Canada. It’s for that reason that I love AfterElton – who keeps a gay eye out on both mainstream and cable programming to see how gay people are being represented. They have just come out with their 2007 report card, and guess what? They gave the industry a B+

I’m not going to get into the shows myself, except to say that the Torchwood episode (which is actually a British show) with Captain Jack and the gay kiss was pretty spectacular but I’ll leave the reporting to the experts.

Dancing naked, especially in public view has to be one of the ultimate acts of self expression that leaves you empowered, and while I have complete respect for the guys in the videos here, sometimes you also have to appreciate the humor in such dancing – each person brings their own idea of what dancing is – some have rhythm, some don’t.
